Annex Reception Desk

The reception at Annex is a butcher block desk with flat steel bars set across the front. The budget friendly design was to create a sturdy design that acted as an anchor in any event held within the shop. Every piece of the mixed material butcher block was used and to cover the space in the front and create a design oriented fill a slatted steel fill that was sealed with a clear coat, and then further coated with white paint. The transition from solid white to blackened steel creates a positive/negative oscillation, a sort of moire effect as the ‘cherry on top’.
