Gwin Residence Stair Railing

Complex projects, like this custom railing with plywood infill panels, personify Temper and Grit’s spirited approach to complicated manufacturing and ultramodern design. Working with Architect Mike Gwin, we designed and built the railing with slip-fit panels to the dimensions of the three-floor staircase, with each section coupling with the other to ensure a sturdy, secure system with a coherent aesthetic. To achieve this, we fabricated the railing posts to slip-fit into the stringers on the stairs, then held them in place with mechanically-fastened end caps. A powder coat finish was chosen to provide longevity.
