One Valley Shell Desk

Very proud of this project in collaboration with @monmadepgh and @gbbnarchitects for @_theonevalley to create a desk that meets the sustainability standards of the industry for LEED specifications. The base is aluminum, designed to project from the wall with a hammered texture to resemble, and relate, to the industrious nature, and codified aesthetic of the developed space. A water based metal coating was applied to the surface of the aluminum to appear bronze. Patina and paint was added and sealed with a low VOC lacquer. The upper level is an inset piece of porcelain tile with marble detailing that was waterjet cut to fit the custom design. Finally the desk top surface is a walnut faced ply to maximize the work area. It's always an honor to be a part of projects that maximize the sustainability and use of our environs whether that be activating sites that were previously scourged by the industrial history of the rust belt, or bringing opportunity to abandoned spaces, in this case - both.
