Ohringer Light Sculpture

The Ohringer Arts Building rennovation which won a number of awards from the @aiapgh and NALHFA , surely among others. Working in collaboration with @rdcollab we had the opportunity to design and fabricate a number of pieces throughout the space. Engaging with the sculptural side of our work, the interior entrance is excited by a sculptural light-box painted with a satin white finish to create a container, or a abstracted window into the "guts" of the building. The sculpture was to reflect the movement of water but also have a sense of industrial aspects of the Braddock area. The blackened steel strips guide the viewer into the space. On the back of the strips, a rib system that contains LED lights to illuminate the interior. The use of light as a material to suggest the energy of the community within the building bursting through the industrial roots of the municipality.
